Enrollment at Hallsville ISD schools increased by 3.7% compared to previous school year

There were 19,818 students enrolled in Hallsville ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.7% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 54.2% of them were girls, and 45.8% were boys.

The most represented ethnicity among Hallsville ISD students was Hispanic, accounting for 39.2% of the student population.

Hallsville ISD roughly covers schools within Harrison County with its main office in Hallsville.

Among the seven schools in Hallsville ISD, Texas Virtual Academy at Hallsville recorded the highest enrollment of 14,830 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
