Waskom ISD welcomed 825 students in 2022-23 school year

There were 825 students enrolled in Waskom ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.4% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 52.7% of them were boys, and 47.3% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Waskom ISD students was white, accounting for 49.6% of the student population.

Waskom ISD roughly covers schools within Harrison County with its main office in Waskom.

Among the three schools in Waskom ISD, Waskom Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 358 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
