Ore City ISD welcomed 861 students in 2021-22 school year

There were 861 students enrolled in Ore City ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 7.2% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 50.6% of them were boys, and 49.4% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 68.3% of the Ore City ISD total enrollment.

Ore City ISD roughly covers schools within Upshur County with its main office in Ore City.

Among the three schools in Ore City ISD, Ore City Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 421 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
