On February 13, 2025, Moran highlighted concerns regarding the speed at which previous administrations have enacted last-minute regulations. Later that day, he addressed issues related to tax enforcement during a hearing with the Ways and Means Committee. Moran criticized the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) for targeting American taxpayers instead of focusing on international threats from countries like China. In a more personal note posted later on February 13th, Moran expressed his condolences upon learning about the death of Sheriff Tom Maddox.
