There were 100 white students enrolled in Leveretts Chapel ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 13.8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Leveretts Chapel ISD schools welcomed 234 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 42.7% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Leveretts Chapel ISD roughly covers schools within Rusk County and has a main office in Overton.

Among the three schools in Leveretts Chapel ISD schools, Leveretts Chapel Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 62 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
