Panola Charter School District Education: 16 African American students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 16 African American students enrolled in Panola Charter School District in the 2022-23 school year, 11.1% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Panola Charter School District welcomed 197 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 8.1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Panola Charter School District roughly covers schools within Panola County and has a main office in Carthage.

Among the three schools in Panola Charter School District, Texas Early College High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 15 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
