Harleton ISD schools Education: 7 African American students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were seven African American students enrolled in Harleton ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 41.7% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Harleton ISD schools welcomed 705 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 1% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Harleton ISD roughly covers schools within Harrison County and has a main office in Harleton.

Among the three schools in Harleton ISD schools, Harleton Junior High School recorded the highest enrollment of African American students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of three students.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
