There were 929 white students enrolled in Gladewater ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 2.8% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Gladewater ISD schools welcomed 1,755 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, white students comprised 52.9% of the student body to be one of the most represented ethnicities in the district.

Gladewater ISD roughly covers schools within Gregg County and has a main office in Gladewater.

Among the four schools in Gladewater ISD schools, Weldon Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of white students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of 291 students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
