Union Grove ISD Education: 761 students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 761 students enrolled in Union Grove ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 8.3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.5% of them were girls, and 49.5% were boys.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 83% of the Union Grove ISD total enrollment.

Union Grove ISD roughly covers schools within Upshur County with its main office in Gladewater.

Among the three schools in Union Grove ISD, Union Grove Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 406 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
