There were 1,476 students enrolled in Tatum ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight increase compared to the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.6% of them were boys, and 48.4% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Tatum ISD students was white, accounting for 46.7% of the student population.

Tatum ISD roughly covers schools within Rusk County with its main office in Tatum.

Among the four schools in Tatum ISD, Tatum High School recorded the highest enrollment of 464 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
