There were 3,400 students enrolled in Henderson ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.1% of them were girls, and 49.9% were boys.

The most represented ethnicity among Henderson ISD students was white, accounting for 42.1% of the student population.

Henderson ISD roughly covers schools within Rusk County with its main office in Henderson.

Among the five schools in Henderson ISD, Henderson High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,042 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
