Enrollment at Gladewater ISD schools increased by 3.1% compared to previous school year

There were 1,755 students enrolled in Gladewater ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 3.1% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 51.9% of them were boys, and 48.1% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 52.9% of the Gladewater ISD total enrollment.

Gladewater ISD roughly covers schools within Gregg County with its main office in Gladewater.

Among the four schools in Gladewater ISD, Weldon Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of 529 students in the 2022-23 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
