Enrollment at Union Hill ISD schools decreased by 7.5% compared to previous school year

There were 284 students enrolled in Union Hill ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 7.5% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.4% of them were boys, and 48.6% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 73.9% of the Union Hill ISD total enrollment.

Union Hill ISD roughly covers schools within Upshur County with its main office in Gilmer.

Among the two schools in Union Hill ISD, Union Hill High School recorded the highest enrollment of 161 students in the 2021-22 school year.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
