There were 1,466 students enrolled in White Oak ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, a slight decrease from the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 52.7% of them were boys, and 47.3% were girls.

Data also shows that the majority of students were white, representing 79.4% of the White Oak ISD total enrollment.

White Oak ISD roughly covers schools within Gregg County with its main office in White Oak.

Among the four schools in White Oak ISD, White Oak High School recorded the highest enrollment of 433 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
