There were 4,682 students enrolled in Pine Tree ISD schools in the 2021-22 school year, 3% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2021-22 school year, 51.5% of them were boys, and 48.5% were girls.

The most represented ethnicity among Pine Tree ISD students was Hispanic, accounting for 35.6% of the student population.

Pine Tree ISD roughly covers schools within Gregg County with its main office in Longview.

Among the six schools in Pine Tree ISD, Pine Tree High School recorded the highest enrollment of 1,332 students in the 2021-22 school year.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
