After 2-year delay, work finally begins on trio of Longview parks projects

Construction will begin on three parks in Longview soon, two years after improvement plans were designed.

The parks that will receive improvements are McWhorter Park, Lois Jackson Park and Stamper Park. They've been slated for improvements since November 2018.

While construction is going on at Lois Jackson Park, the Paul G. Boorman Trail will stay open. However, it may be inaccessible from the Lois Jackson parking lot, a news release stated.

At Lois Jackson Park, a playground and pavilion will be replaced and a new pavilion and playground will be added. A restroom will also be installed.

At McWhorter Park, a new playground will be added, an existing playground replaced, a basketball court will be added, and a sand volleyball court will also be installed.

At Stamper Park, an existing playground and pavilion will be replaced and a basketball court will be moved. The parking lot will be improved and a new pavilion will be installed.
